Unfortunately, there are occasions when Shibas have lost their homes. They are turned into pounds, shelters, rescue organizations, or simply dumped by the side of the road.

Often it is a matter that their first homes did not understand the breed - Shibas need exercise, attention, and guidelines. Rescue Shibas may need some extra help to overcome the stress they have experienced (shelter life, abandonment, etc.) - but this is a breed that learns quickly, and appreciates loving care!
